ave In was formed by Jay Frechette and Steve Brodsky in early 1995. The initial line-up consisted of Frechette on vocals, Brodsky on guitar and vocals, Adam McGrath on second guitar, JR Conners on drums and Justin Matthes on bass. They would soon release a demo and a handful of split 7" releases with bands such as Gambit, Piebald and Early Grace, and see Matthes briefly replaced by Andy Kyte. 1997 saw Cave In's first release; a self-titled 7" on Aaron Turner's Hydra Head Records. Following that release, the band embarked on a three week East Coast tour. The tour edition was limited to 5,000 individually hand-numbered copies. Recently the limited edition was released additionally to the 5000 original copies.

Age can often be a definition of success, but try telling that to Wisconsin's own metal/hardcore band Cain & Abel. Having shared the stage with bands such as August Burns Red, The Color Morale, and Texas In July, and have played the past year's Cornerstone Festival and Warped Tour- all while still having the majority of the band in high school, these six boys have done nothing short of impressive in their two years of existence. Hailing from the suburb village of Menomonee Falls, Tyler Trokan (Vocals), Jake Noggle (Vocals), Jared Block (Guitar), Ike Weins (Guitar), Jeff Jelenchick (Bass), and Josh Fox (Drums) have grown up together and have been best friends several years before the band came to. Caliban was formed in Hattingen, Germany in 1997 under the name Never Again".[2] After six months of playing together, the band recorded their first two songs for a demo, which were never released. The songs were sent to several record labels, and Lifeforce Records was the first to offer the band a record deal. The band's first self-titled EP came out in the summer of 1998. To promote it, Caliban played many shows all over Europe and a few support shows for bands including Morning Again, Earth Crisis and Cro-Mags.
